Note: As of September 2024, the Capitol was undergoing extensive renovations in the back and garden area where the bell is located. At the time, the bell was still fully accessible, although you had to get into the garden by a circuitous route, with lots of construction fencing. It might be a good idea to call the Capotil before planning a visit.

My dad has a picture of him and the replica (he said being delivered on a train). Pic was in 1974 and taken in old sac. Do you know when it was delivered to California
Christina, sorry for the year-long delay in responding. The replica now at the Capitol arrive in California in 1950 as part of a promotional campaign to sell U.S. Savings Bonds. It might have gone back out on tour around 1974 (or 1976) when your father had the picture taken. I’d love to see it. Can you email to [email protected]?
