Leaving Montpelier around 12:30 pm, we powered east through Maine, mainly in the rain. Primarily on back roads, we passed though many small towns, some scary, definitely haunted abandoned lake campgrounds, saw lots of moose crossing signs and no moose.
By the time we got to Augusta (4:30), it was dark and raining heavily. We parked in the Capitol lot, hustled across the State House lawn and snapped off a few shots. Dawn tried out her new bell pose.
We were super-lame and just crashed at the lovely Senator Inn & Spa, got our lobster on and rested up for the next leg. Now on to Portland and Boston.
Looks like a fun and crazy time. I hope to make this trip with my sisters soon!! We have done 21 liberty bells and hope to continue our journey in the summer
