      Eddy,
That’s so exciting! We planned to visit while we were in France 2 years ago but a flood warning in the valley kept us out. If you’re interested, you should try to see Annecy’s replica. It’s one of only 2 of the 57 used regularly as a bell. It’s in an active church, so you might not be able to just pop in and see it, but other bell hunters have had luck. You can reach them here. If you do get to see it, I’d love if you could look for the serial number. I can give you more info on where to look. Please keep me posted and safe travels!

    Bonjour, and thank you, Tom!

The Liberty Bell that is still in active use in Annecy (bell number 2 of the church’s four bells) is at the Basilique Saint-Joseph-des-Fins d’Annecy. More information and photos can be found here:

Unfortunately, I can’t make out the serial number.

We visited the Paccard Foundry and Museum on Sunday, had a great time, and learned a lot about bellmaking. A swim in Lake Annecy beforehand was especially welcome, as we’re currently experiencing a heat wave here in France.

The museum also displays a more recently cast Liberty Bell, alongside photos from 1950. My dad was lucky enough to ring it on Father’s Day! Visitors can also book places to take part in a live bell casting (“coulée”), although these are fully booked through October.

If you’d like, I’d be happy to email you a few photos of the museum.

    Take care and keep well!
